Austin Orumwense

Austin Orumwense is a cybersecurity expert specialising in security operations, incident response and detection engineering, and the founder of Astrosec, an initiative developing practical security talent through mentoring, project-based learning and community digital-safety programmes. A recipient of the 2025 CREST Africa Award for Excellence in Cybersecurity Innovation & Community Impact, he combines frontline operational experience with active research and peer-reviewed publications in IEEE venues on cloud security, advanced persistent threats and operational resilience. He is a published commentator on cybersecurity risks to election integrity and democratic resilience, and an advocate for responsible, security-first adoption of AI in organisations. Austin speaks and facilitates at professional and community events and serves on the University of Greater Manchester Industry Advisory Board, helping align curricula and skills pathways with modern security operations.
